News and Reviews for those December Bluez:
Item: Marc Jette and his Studio 9 comic shop in Montreal are profiled on a French blog. (google translation). Looks like a nice shop. (Link courtesy Jacques Boivin).
Item: Jillian Tamaki has moved her sketchblog comic strip, Super Mutant Magic Academy, from her main site to its own Tumblr blog. The strip is really sweet and funny.
Item: Jeff Lemire’s Sweet Tooth #16 and Vol 2 reviewed at Ain’t it Cool News. Lemire is also interviewed at Publishers Weekly.
Item: Jason Truong is retiring from the Joe Shuster Awards. Many of us know Jason from his Crooked Little World blog and his thorough-going coverage of Toronto comic cons, but he has also been a big part of the Shusters for the last few years, keeping track of new Canadian releases and news for their blog as well as serving on nomination committees, manning tables, and more, I’m sure.
Item: Speaking of the Shuster blog, there’s an interview with DC artist Marcus To.
Item: And speaking of the Shuster’s, did you know the 2011 awards ceremony will be held at the CCEE in Calgary?
Item: Part 2 of Robin’s Inkstuds tour diary.
Item: Tom Spurgeon reviews Jimmy Beaulieu’s Suddenly Something Happened from Conundrum Press. I haven’t read it yet but it looks beautiful like all of Jimmy’s work, especially the cute girls.
Item: Dalton Sharp interviews the Kill Shakespeare team about movie development for Torontoist.
Item: Ryan North collects all of his 2006 Dinosaur Comics strips into a book. It will launch December 21 in Toronto at 7:30pm at the Pauper’s Pub (539 Bloor St. W., 2nd Floor). Facebook event page.
