Item! Inkstuds Robin McConnell has been a very busy beaver lately. Besides curating this past weekend’s Horror Hangover comics art show, the Inkstuds podcast has recently featured a critics roundtable with interviews with Jeet Heer, Tom Spurgeon and Joe McCulloch. He also has a nice photo parade from the Brooklyn comics fest.
Item! And speaking of Jeet Heer, The Globe and Mail has published its “Top 100 Books of 2012” . The list includes three comics: the Heer-reviewed Are You My Mother? and Building Stories and the Martin Levin-reviewed the 2011 book Hark! A Vagrant on January 6, 2012. Cut the Beaton book off the list and there are no Canadian books. Conclusion: The Globe doesn’t review enough Canadian comics, or comics in general.
Item! New webcomics-slash-graphic-novel, Raygun Gothic, the product of Winnipegger GMB Chomichuk.
Item! In other new comics news, Ed Brisson and
Michael Walsh’s book Comeback has sold out through Diamond. The book is a sci-fi thriller, described here. Bonus: How to break into comics by Brisson.
