Hello readers, here is an update on the delay of new Sequential Magazine issues.
After 17 issues and 5 years of work, I have made the tough decision last fall to step away as editor and chief of Sequential Magazine. It takes a level of commitment to produce and promote a quality product that I could not maintain. I have decided to pursue other interests in my free time and step away from indie comics for a while.
This magazine has been an amazing passion project for me through which I have made many friends in Canadian comics. I thank all of the many contributors who have made this project possible and continued to support it throughout the years. Thank you to all of the creators who took precious time to be interviewed and provide insights into your excellent work. Thank you to all our readers for sharing our work and I hope you were able to discover many creators you can continue to support.
I am pleased to announce Christian Muise of Halifax as the new Editor in Chief. He plans to continue the magazine with some modifications on an annual release plan with articles on the blog in between. I hope that any previous contributors to the magazine or anyone else interested can support his new direction. So while it will take more time to transition and produce the next issue, I am glad the magazine can continue to contribute to the Canadian comics community. I apologize for the delay in this announcement as I wanted to be certain of this new direction in the announcement. Keep following for further announcements on the next issue.
Also I was not able to continue the Sequential Magazine Awards for this year. Big thanks to Calum Johnston of Strange Adventures Comics for supporting them. I encourage everyone interested to apply to the Doug Wright Awards by Jan 17 or in future years.
Digital copies of the magazine will always be available through the Library of Canada and I will submit the latest issues which will take time to appear. Search for ISSN #2562-3621. They are also still available on GlobalComix as long as that platform is open and new issues should be posted there as well.
Thank you again to everyone involved and to Salgood Sam for helping me launch the magazine and supporting me throughout.
Cathchphrase,
Brendan Montgomery
