We don’t post many job openings here at Sequential but that’s because there are not many jobs in comics that you don’t make yourself. But here’s one: Montreal comix institution Drawn and Quarterly is hiring a Marketing Assistant. The publisher has a crackerjack publicity department (remember, publisher Peggy Burns started out doing PR) and has a track record of creating brilliant careers for its employees.
Here’s the deets:
Drawn & Quarterly’s marketing department is looking for a full-time assistant to coordinate events / tours / festivals and aid in the promotion of D+Q books. Position will work with department in all logistics: setting up tours, pitching stores, booking travel, creating itineraries, and the promotion of events / tours / books via social media and journalists. Position includes general office and publicity administration help including administering mailings, writing press releases & book copy, and website updates. Candidates will work in the office 40 hours a week, including local author events and local festivals on weekends when needed; be available to travel to Toronto and the USA; have knowledge of social media platforms; and have an understanding of the graphic novel medium, literary publishing, and D+Q’s place within both.
