MCAF//FBDM announces registrations for their profesional development day program and Comic Jam in the lead up to the virtual version of the festival this May.
Montreal’s main spring comics cultural event is carrying on this year in a quick pivot to move as much of it’s planned programs, or variation of them, to online venues.
In the weeks leading up every Wednesday, the 13th, 20th and 27th they are holding “Conversation mixte”, panel/interviews with Iris Boudreau and Cathon, Patrick Marleau and Mathieu Benoit, Pierre Lecrenier and Larry Tremblay.
Then the professional creators day will be held Thursday, May 21. This day will take the form of two masterclasses held by well-known artists.
In French, there is a Masterclass with Jean-Louis Tripp – 11 am to 1 pm [s’inscrire]. And in English another Masterclass with Jeff Lemire – 3 pm to 5 pm [registration]. Timed so those that are able may attend both!
Followed by a “Comix Jam” hosted by yours truly, Salgood Sam and open to all who wish to join starting at 7pm [so everyone has a chance to catch dinner first].
The winners for the 21st Bédélys Awards will be announced live on May 22 at 7 pm.
AND that’s just to kick off the event! Check out the rest of the program here, and tune in for a weekend of comics in a virtual park. On the list: guest creators, panels, workshops, live drawings, “Dungeons, Dragons & Drawings” evening and more!! I’m giving a presentation myself even. There will be livestreams on the FBDM website from May 22nd to 24th. You can also follow it all on the Facebook page and Youtube channel.
