The Luc Chamberland documentary Seth’s Dominion, featuring new interviews with and animated stories adapted from the comics of the cartoonist Seth, has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award in the category Theatrical Documentary and Short Film Synopses. The film shares the category with a long-list of 21 other nominees. There are 128 categories recognized by the awards.
The nomination for the NFB-produced film notes that “Director Luc Chamberland sheds light on his wry, articulate subject, mixing insightful biography with vivid animation in an artful fusion of filmmaking techniques that perfectly captures Seth’s manifold creative universe.”
The Awards, a result of the merger of the Gemini and Genie Awards, are presented by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, “a national, non-profit, professional association dedicated to the promotion, recognition and celebration of exceptional achievements in Canadian film, television and digital media.” The awards are a catch-all event for film, television and digital media/webseries and will be broadcast in a two-hour live show Sunday March 1 on CBC television, hosted by Andrea Martin.
