Surprising how these weeks catch up with you. Just a quick post with some comics news highlights from cross-Canada and around the world…
Item! Two big international stories this week are the firebombing of the Charlie Hebdo humour magazine offices in France, which Comics Reporter has the goods on as usual. Also wellcovered by Tom Spurgeon, the arrest of journalist Susie Cagle and the Occupy Oakland events.
Item! Mike and Tim from Panels of Awesome dissect the Central Canada Con that took place in Winnipeg last weekend. This was the show that Wizard bought and then dropped last year.
Item! The models of local art-themed event Drawn and Plastered also have a report from the con, as do Global TV, Pancakes and Skateboards, and more. Good idea to have a con at Halloween, maybe?
Item! D+Q has a post up looking back at their massive list of books from 2011 and a Kate Beaton tour wrap-up.
